Savita is a wife, mother, daughter and sister.

She is happy, funloving and full of life.

She is also suffering from a rare form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

She was diagnosed with the condition in June 2007 and underwent extensive treatment which included three rounds of chemotherapy which helped put the cancer into remission. The cancer came back after a brief reprieve and Savita was admitted into the hospital again in November 2008. She is undergoing chemotherapy again at this time. Savita needs a bone marrow transplant to be cured. She has four siblings and while statistically the probability of finding a suitable bone marrow match with a sibling are 1 in 4, none of them has turned out to be a match. We have therefore started the search for an unrelated donor. The statistical probability of finding a match is 1 in 100,000. But it is infinitely better than not finding a match at all.

We are her family. We have decided that we will not give up and will fight this battle together. We will organize drives to recruit bone marrow donors, we will search for new treatments, we will educate people about this dreaded disease and we will raise awareness about its causes and effects.

This website is our means of communicating with you. Please feel free to get in touch with us with any questions or suggestions.

We have bone marrow drives scheduled at different events. Details are available at the Drive Calendar.
